Randy Schmitz
Vice President, Operations
Randy's first task to Skybridge® was a formidable one: consolidating three warehouses into one modern distribution center. Drawing on his expertise in areas ranging from engineering and logistics to plant maintenance and postal affairs, he revitalized Skybridge's back-end fulfillment operations and streamlines processes, while managing facility, engineering and costing budgets.
Numerous subsequent successes reflect Randy's engineering, financial and managerial strengths. Among his achievements: Increasing margins and reducing labor costs by improving work measurement processes; establishing a customized inventory control system; increasing production capacity through the implementation of automated packaging machinery; instituting warehouse best practices; and negotiating favorable contracts with freight providers and consolidators.
Prior to joining Skybridge, Randy served as a principal engineer at Fingerhut Companies and worked as a design engineer at Webway Inc. He earned a BS in manufacturing engineering from St. Cloud State University and is a Six Sigma Green Belt.
Interesting Fact: When I was a toddler I was backed over by a home-delivery milk truck, causing several broken ribs and a crushed pelvis. My parents invested the small insurance settlement for me until I became of legal age. At 18, I bought a car with the proceeds and used the remaining amount to help fund my college education.
